On the way to Mark’s place, the full moon over Lee Vining Canyon just blew me away. I couldn’t keep my eyes on the road. That’s as good a time as any to learn how to take long-exposure pictures so I tried to balance the camera on Bessie and figure it out. Turns out you really really need a tripod.

I noticed that mashing the button without shaking the camera is near impossible. So use the timer… That’s brilliant!
dr Daveurn:uuid:a29c84ff-940d-4320-ad34-f54c51fd3b732006-07-23T03:23:22-07:002006-07-23T03:23:22-07:00Comment on Lee Vining Canyon by Moonlight by dr Dave
Not so bad for pictures without extensive equipment!

But did you take the picture from inside the car? there seems to be a bit of a veil… you could probably get rid of it by tweaking levels in $favoritephotosoftware… Also I’m not sure if you did (can’t see it in the Exif data…), but when taking long-exposure pics without a tripod, the trick is to always use the timer… Helps keeping it perfectly still on its surface while it takes the picture…
